Obatacles Stuck

The Inner Obstacles That Keep You Stuck

Sometimes, nothing outside you is stopping you. There is no major obstacle, no lack of opportunity, no impossible circumstance. Yet you keep postponing the decision, repeating the same relationship pattern, doubting yourself, or returning to a situation you already know is not working. This can be frustrating, and you may start asking: “Why am I still here?” “Why can’t I move forward when I know what I need to do?” The answer is often not a lack of knowledge, but what is happening within you.

Your fears, beliefs, emotional patterns, and attachment to familiarity can quietly become obstacles to the life you want.

You Can Know What to Do and Still Not Do It

Knowing what you need to do is not the same as actually changing. You may fully recognize the need to set a boundary, leave a bad situation, start the business, or take better care of yourself, yet still find yourself holding back. That resistance is usually an internal conflict, as one part of you craves growth and change, while another part prioritizes safety and fears the cost of transformation. Until you address that internal divide, simply telling yourself to “be more disciplined” will rarely move you forward.

Fear of Failure Can Keep You Playing Small

Failure feels scary when we treat it as a reflection of who we are. Instead of just thinking, “This might not work,” we secretly think, “If I fail, it means I am not good enough.”

To protect ourselves from that feeling, we hold back. We make excuses, wait for the “right time,” or keep researching forever. But often, endless preparation is just fear hiding behind a mask.

Ask yourself: “What would I try if I knew failure wouldn’t change my self-worth?” The answer is usually the exact thing you need to start doing.

Fear of Success Can Be Just as Real

We often talk about the fear of failure, but we do not discuss the fear of what happens if you actually succeed. Success can bring:

  • More responsibility
  • Greater visibility
  • Higher expectations
  • Changes in relationships
  • A new version of yourself

Succeeding can feel surprisingly uncomfortable because your old habits feel safe. You might want more money, but worry about managing it. You might want success, but fear the attention. You might want a close relationship, but dread being vulnerable. Sometimes the real question isn’t, “Why am I afraid to fail?” It’s, “Am I secretly afraid of how my life will change if I succeed?”

Self-Doubt Can Become a Habit

Self-doubt is rarely a one-time thought; it is a repetitive cycle of second-guessing your choices, seeking outside reassurance, and waiting for a guarantee of complete certainty before taking action. But certainty rarely shows up before you act, it is created by the action itself. True confidence and self-trust grow only as you accumulate evidence that you can handle whatever happens: you make a decision, navigate the outcome, learn from it, and take the next step anyway.

Emotional Attachment Can Keep You in Old Stories

Sometimes you are not attached to a person or situation, but you are attached to the story surrounding it, like;

  • “I’ve already invested so much.”
  • “This is just how my life is.”
  • “I can’t start again now.”
  • “They need me.”
  • “I’ve come this far.”

These thoughts can make staying feel easier than changing. But past investment does not mean you must continue investing. Ask, “Am I staying because this still serves me, or because leaving would force me to accept that something has changed?” That question can be uncomfortable, but it can also be freeing.

Your Inner Critic May Sound Like Logic

Not all limiting thoughts arrive as obvious negativity, many masquerade as sensible advice. Internal warnings like “be realistic,” “wait until you’re more prepared,” or “don’t take unnecessary risks” can sound like prudent caution. Yet often, fear simply borrows the voice of logic to keep you safe from the discomfort of trying. The distinction comes down to a single question: “Is this thought helping me make a considered decision, or is it just helping me avoid discomfort?”

The Need for Approval Can Become a Hidden Barrier

When your choices depend heavily on other people’s reactions, your life slowly becomes a constant negotiation. You end up choosing the career your family prefers, staying in draining relationships to avoid disappointing others, or holding back your true opinion just to keep the peace. While approval offers temporary comfort, needing it before every major decision eventually detaches you from your own judgment. The truth is simple: you do not need everyone to understand your choices for those choices to be right for you.

How to Identify What Is Keeping You Stuck

  1. Identify the repeating situation. Progress begins when you step back and name what keeps happening, whether it is procrastination, people-pleasing, falling into the same relationship dynamics, hesitating around money, or shrinking from visibility. Uncovering and naming the recurring pattern takes it out of the background, making it far easier to understand, address, and shift.
  2. Identify the emotion underneath it: Look past the behavior itself and ask: “What do I actually feel when I imagine doing something differently?” Whether the answer is fear, guilt, shame, uncertainty, or a sense of loss, the underlying emotion often reveals far more about what is keeping you stuck than the surface action ever will.
  3. Identify the belief: Complete this sentence: “If I change this, then…” Whatever finishes that thought often exposes the hidden rule keeping your pattern alive. Naming the belief brings it into the light, giving you the power to challenge it rather than be led by it.
  4. Challenge the belief: Put your default assumptions to the test by asking: “Is this absolutely true?”, “What evidence do I actually have?”, and “What would I choose if I did not believe this?” Questioning the narrative you’ve been telling yourself helps separate real constraints from internal fear, opening up choices you couldn’t see before.
  5. Take one different action: Don’t wait for the fear or uncertainty to fully disappear before moving forward. Change begins when you choose just one small action that contradicts your old pattern, taking that single step, despite the discomfort, is where real momentum starts.

A Simple “Stuck to Moving” Ritual

  • Take a sheet of paper and write: “What I keep doing.”
  • Underneath it, write: “What I am afraid will happen if I stop.”
  • Then write: “What I actually want.”
  • Finally, complete this sentence: “One thing I am willing to do differently this week is…”
  • Choose something small enough to act on.
  • Do it before your mind creates another reason to wait.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Why do I stay stuck even when I know what I need to do?
Knowing what to do does not automatically resolve the emotional fears or beliefs connected to change. Awareness needs to be followed by action.

Q2. Can fear of success really hold someone back?
Yes. Success can involve visibility, responsibility, changing relationships, or leaving familiar identities behind. These changes can create their own fears.

Q3. How do I know whether I am being cautious or simply afraid?
Ask whether your hesitation is based on clear information or mainly on imagined consequences. Healthy caution helps you prepare. Fear often keeps you from moving at all.

Q4. Why do I repeat patterns I consciously want to change?
Repeated emotional responses can become deeply familiar. Changing them requires awareness, new experiences, and consistent action.

Q5. What is the first step toward getting unstuck?
Identify the pattern without judging yourself. Once you can clearly see what you are doing, what you are feeling, and what you believe, you can begin making different choices.

We changed their lives and here they send us reasons to smile !
Priceless words of honour.

I have known Dr Chandni for only 6 months. Yet today I consider her part of my family and my being. When I met her, I was exhausted with life and with myself. Not only did her session uplift & transform my physical body but I was grounded like I havent been in 8 years. Highly knowledgeable, able to answer your deepest questions, full of light and exuberance, I havent seen any energy healing so significant and long lasting. Im privileged to receive wellness from her and I know that Im never alone. My association with her is for life and her specialness is above the heavens for me.

I was part of the session with Dr. Chandni Tugnait and so many friends asked me about my experience. The following analogy reflects some parts of the experience -The best of Buddhas disciple gave their quantifiable findings but when it came to Andanda, his closest one, he had tears in his eyes and responded in a single sentence – “I don’t know”.Buddha responded emotively, you have me in you. One has to experience it to believe in the healing process in totality.
Thanks a lot for your contribution Chandni

At times i wonder where does she keep it all. Such compassion – non judgmental, ever accessible, invaluable. It’s got to be a fountain within her that flows incessantly for the wary soul. No matter what your wound is, the magical waters of this fountain can cure all. And it was magic that got me to this fountain. For I had neither met her nor known her, at-least not in this lifetime! The first time i spoke to her, her compassion cut through my dense energy.

Ms. Chandni is a fine young lady who simply touched my heart during my visit to India. Although she is my daughter’s age but the ease with which she handled our group of 40 odd people from different countries and different cultures, left me spellbound. English was never a problem for me but this young girl, who I proudly call my teacher, taught me some very interesting things. I wish you the best of luck in everything that you do. Smile as often as you can. May the Lord bless you!
